If you’ve ever bought digital music products online, you probably had to download and install them through an external application. One of the more recent ones to come up is the Pulse Downloader.
In this post, we’ll explain what Pulse Downloader is, and how it makes downloading and managing your plugins a simpler process.
What is Pulse Downloader?
Pulse is a free application that lets you download, update, and manage your digital music products all in one place. This includes sample libraries, virtual instruments, and other plugins. The Pulse app also has a built-in storefront where you can directly purchase products from their partners.
Pulse is currently available for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Pulse lets you download, update, and purchase digital music products from over 60 independent developers.
Who makes Pulse Downloader?
Pulse was developed by the folks at VST Buzz, an online marketplace for music plugins. They created it in response to the growing number of emails from customers having trouble downloading their products (more on that below).
How Pulse Works
First, you’ll need to create a Pulse account. Then download the app, sign in, and you’re ready to start.
When you purchase a qualifying product, you’ll receive a product code. Enter that product code and it’ll be added to your Pulse library.
From there, you can easily download and update your music products.
Is Pulse Downloader Safe?
Pulse Downloader is absolutely safe to use. Over 60 independent developers trust Pulse and use it to distribute their products. It’s a lightweight app that uses little data and can run quietly in the background while running your DAW or other programs. There’s no malware whatsoever.
Benefits of Using Pulse
For one, it consolidates your content into one place. Your libraries are all accessible with just a few clicks, and you get lifetime access to them.
Once your products are on Pulse, that’s it. There’s no need to sift through old emails, log in to developer websites, or look up serial numbers again. So if your hard drive crashes, or you get a new computer, don’t worry! You can log in to Pulse and re-download everything without any hassle.
Your downloads are all run through Pulse’s content distribution network (CDN), which is safe, secure, and super fast. You can pause a download anytime, and pick up right where you left off. No need to clutter your folders with .zip files or partially-downloaded programs.
Benefits for Developers
It’s not just the end-user who benefits from this app. Pulse Downloader reduces customer support issues, and makes the process of downloading and updating products as seamless as possible.
Sending updates to existing customers is a lot easier to do with Pulse. Send the update to the Pulse server, then it will automatically notify users about it. No need to email new download links and ask customers to delete and re-download their products.
It also integrates with most major shopping platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce, making distribution a breeze.
Pulse also adds an invisible watermark to every download. It’s an anti-piracy measure that has zero impact on product performance, and is a better alternative to always-on DRM or tying licenses to a USB dongle.
